Can I rename a SharePoint site’s URL?

From SharePoint’s admin center it is possible to change the URL of a SharePoint site. MetaShare will however not automatically get a notification of a workspace’s changed URL so if you change the URL, the workspace will not be found. If you want to change the URL of a workspace’s corresponding site, there are two ways to do it:

Method 1 – Create a new site

The easiest way to change the URL of a workspace’s corresponding site, without having to contact MetaShare support is to:

  1. Create a new workspace, with the desired URL.
  2. Move the documents from the old workspace to the new one.
  3. Delete the old workspace.

Method 2 – Change the site’s URL

You can change the URL of a workspace’s corresponding site but then you will have to contact MetaShare support that will link the new URL to the MetaShare workspace.
